Michael Andre-Driussi, author of “Lexicon Urthus“ and all around Gene Wolfe expert has recently published a new lexicon that acts as a companion for Gene Wolfe’s books “The Knight” and “The Wizard”.  Available for purchase on Amazon.com, “The Wizard Knight Companion: A Lexicon for Gene Wolfe’s The Knight and The Wizard” is certainly a must for anyone interested in diving deeper into The Wizard Knight story.

Amazon.com has Gene Wolfe’s next title, The Sorcerer’s House, listed for pre-order.  The release date appears to be March 16th 2010.  Hopefully we’ll see a cover soon.

Thanks to Paul for noticing and blogging this forum thread.  Looks like the Avenger class in the 4th edition of Dungeons & Dragons was inspired by the main character Severian from the Book of the New Sun.  

Mike Mearls writes:

Avenger: Ripping aside the ethereal nature of Wolf's Book of the New Sun and treating it as a comic book of sorts, Severian the torturer was a major influence on this class's initial feel and direction. Obviously its divine roots steered in a different direction, but I can easily see playing an avenger based on fantasy's most famous torturer.

Gene Wolfe’s “An Evil Guest” is a finalist for a 2009 Locus Award under the Fantasy Novel category.  Each category contains five finalists and the winners will be announced on June 26-27 at the Science Fiction Awards Weekend in Seattle Washington.

Michael Andre-Driussi has published a new article on irosf.com in which he uses The Urth of the New Sun to shed some light on the many mysteries that shroud The Book of the New Sun.  As with everything Michael writes it’s an enjoyable and enlightening read.  Just reading it myself has me wanting to pick the Urth Cycle back up for another go.

A couple of new things to share today.  First off is a Between the Cover Podcast interview with Gene Wolfe.  The interview is done by John J. Miller and is, as almost every interview with Mr. Wolfe, an insightful one that glimpses into his life and personal interests.  

The other item of interest is a new forum called “Useful Phrases” that is dedicated entirely to discussing Gene Wolfe’s work and life.  It’s always great to see new additions to the Gene Wolfe online community.  If you want to be involved simply go to the site, make a quick account and start posting.  
Both of these sites have added to the new Hoof & Hide Delicious.com repository of links.  Very soon I’ll have some new updates involving the resources page and upcoming Twitter updates!
