Available for purchase on Amazon.com, “The Wizard Knight Companion: A Lexicon for Gene Wolfe’s The Knight and The Wizard” is certainly a must for anyone interested in diving deeper into The Wizard Knight story.

Amazon.com has Gene Wolfe’s next title, The Sorcerer’s House, listed for pre-order. The release date appears to be March 16th 2010. Hopefully we’ll see a cover soon.

4e D&D Class Influenced By Serverian

Thanks to Paul for noticing and blogging this forum thread. Looks like the Avenger class in the 4th edition of Dungeons & Dragons was inspired by the main character Severian from the Book of the New Sun.

Mike Mearls writes:

Avenger: Ripping aside the ethereal nature of Wolf's Book of the New Sun and treating it as a comic book of sorts, Severian the torturer was a major influence on this class's initial feel and direction. Obviously its divine roots steered in a different direction, but I can easily see playing an avenger based on fantasy's most famous torturer.

Gene Wolfe’s “An Evil Guest” is a finalist for a 2009 Locus Award under the Fantasy Novel category. Each category contains five finalists and the winners will be announced on June 26-27 at the Science Fiction Awards Weekend in Seattle Washington.
